Fundraising at The Midland hotel, Morecombe - November 2011
Sunday 29th November found the EUROPAC team foot-tapping away at a wonderful 1930's themed tea dance organised by Kate Hardcastle in aid of Pancreas Cancer research. The afternoon was rounded off with a witty speech from Ian Dewihurst, MBE. Many thanks to Kate and congratulations on the successful even which raised over £1,500. You can visit Kate's website here.
New EUROPAC Research Fellow - August 2010
James Nicholson has replaced Jane Butler as the new EUROPAC research fellow for the next 2 years. Jane has now returned to clinical surgery and continues to practice in the Mersey Region. We would like to wish her all the best and thank her for all her efforts and hard work over the last 2 years. James comes to EUROPAC having qualified in medicine at UCL and has been a surgical trainee who worked previously with Professor Neoptolemos in the Regional Pancreas Unit at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
PanGen-Liv Research Assistant Appointed - July 2010
Simon Winn has been appointed as the new PanGen-Liv Research Assistant, based in the EUROPAC Office. Simon has a Biological Sciences Degree from Liverpool University and has worked in the NHS fulfilling various roles for over 10 years. In his spare time Simon enjoys surfing and swimming.
New Data Manager - January 2010
The EUROPAC Study is pleased to announce that Sara Harrison will take over from Matt Harcus as the data manager for EUROPAC. Matt has co-ordinated the study tirelessly since 2007 and has now moved on to study medicine at Liverpool University. We wish him all the best! Sara has a Masters degree, having studied at both Leeds & Strathclyde Universities and a background in genetics. Sara will co-ordinate not only the registry but also the screening of those patients who are eligible.
Cancer Research UK 10k Run - October 2008
Bill Greenhalf and Matt Harcus from the Liverpool centre, in addition to others from the Division of Surgery and Oncology at the University of Liverpool, participated in a 10km run to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
New EUROPAC Research Fellow - August 2008
Jane Butler has replaced Chris Grocock as the EUROPAC Research Fellow at the Liverpool centre. Like Chris, Jane is a surgical trainee and will co-ordinate the secondary screening study as well as providing Matt Harcus with clinical support. Chris has now returned to clinical surgery, although he will remain involved with the study. We would like to thank him for all his efforts during his time in post.
